Luke Skywalker's Green Lightsaber: The First Thing He Built Himself
Share
Luke spent the entire first stretch of his Jedi training carrying a weapon someone handed him. Losing it on Bespin forced the issue. When he returned to Tatooine to face Jabba, he came back with a blade he had constructed himself — the traditional final step of Jedi apprenticeship, done alone, without a master.
He worked from what Obi-Wan left behind in the hut on Tatooine, and the result shows it. The hilt is visibly Kenobi-influenced but simpler and more compact, with a distinctive control box on the side and a stepped emitter. The blade burned green rather than blue.
The green blade is the one that matters most to Luke's story, because it's the one he throws away. On the second Death Star, having beaten his father into submission in front of the Emperor, Luke looked at Vader's severed wrist, then at his own mechanical hand, and made the connection. He shut the blade off and dropped it.
He kept the weapon afterward and carried it into his years rebuilding the Jedi Order. When that ended in fire, he took it to Ahch-To. Rey found it there — and years later, after the fight on Exegol, she carried both this blade and the Skywalker blade to Tatooine and buried them together.
The compact hilt and green blade make this one of the more distinctive silhouettes in the whole lineage. shop sabers
