Pay close attention to these sounds, as they may be subtle. It is important to note that normal updates typically take only a few seconds, while larger updates will be communicated to vendors as they become available.
By following these step-by-step instructions, you can effortlessly update the firmware of your XenoPixel V2 lightsaber. This ensures that you have access to the latest effects, bug fixes, and overall improvements, enhancing your lightsaber experience to its fullest potential.
CONVERTING SOUND FONTS FOR XENOPIXEL
Converting sound fonts to be compatible with XenoPixel requires some patience but is a straightforward process. Currently, manual conversion is necessary. It is important to note that the font folders must be numbered sequentially, as XenoPixel does not recognize folders with names. While you may not need to edit sound files from popular soundfont formats like Proffie or CFX, you will need to remove certain files and rename others.
You can easily add up to 16 sound files of each type to the designated folder. If you’re using Windows 10, the operating system will automatically number renamed files with the same name, simplifying the conversion process for multiple files of the same sound type.
BATTERY CHARGING MANAGEMENT
Standby Mode Activation:
In order to preserve battery life, the saber will automatically enter standby mode if it remains unused for an extended period of time. This intelligent feature helps to conserve battery power when the lightsaber is not in active use.
Low Battery Warning:
When the voltage of the battery drops or reaches a critical level, the lightsaber will emit an audio recording that alerts the user to the low power status. You will hear phrases such as “Low Power” or “Recharge,” indicating that it is time to recharge the battery.
Low Power Mode:
In the event of low battery power, the saber can still be used for a short period of time. This allows you to continue wielding the lightsaber and complete any ongoing activities or performances before initiating the charging process.
Battery Safety Mode:
During the charging process, the lightsaber enters a special safety mode. In this mode, the saber will not turn on until the battery has been fully recharged. This precautionary measure ensures that the lightsaber is not activated prematurely and allows for the complete and safe charging of the battery.
By incorporating these battery charging management features, the XenoPixel lightsaber offers an intelligent and user-friendly experience. The inclusion of standby mode, low battery warnings, low power mode, and battery safety mode helps to optimize battery performance and enhance your lightsaber usage.
CHARGING THE BATTERY
When the battery level is low, you will hear a voice prompt notifying you of the low battery status. To recharge, insert the charging cable into the DC port. The hilt will display a pulsing light, indicating that charging is in progress. Once the battery is fully charged, a voice prompt will announce “Ready,” and the light will turn off.
SYMPTOMS OF LOW BATTERY
If the battery has not been charged recently, the saber may flash with a red tinge upon clash. Ignoring this warning or failing to notice it for an extended period will result in the saber automatically turning off. In this state, it will not power on or enter wake mode until it is recharged.
By following these instructions and understanding the nuances of sound font conversion and battery charging, you can optimize your experience with the XenoPixel lightsaber. Enjoy the process of customizing your sound fonts and ensuring that your saber is always ready for action.

Xenopixel (1-button controls)
The Basics
Most controls are done via how long you hold down the button. Each flash takes 0.5 seconds, so if an instruction says hold for 3 flashes, that would be about 1.5 seconds, after which you would release the button.
- Press and hold the LED button to bring out of sleep mode. You will hear a ‘Power On’ voice, and the LED button will turn on.
- Press the button once, quickly, to turn the blade on.
- The following controls activate when the blade is on, and are based on the flash of the LED button light:
- A quick press will initiate a single blaster deflect effect
- Press and hold the button for one flash, then release. This will initiate the drag effect. A quick press will end the drag effect.
- Press and hold the button for two flashes, then release. This will initiate the color cycle. When the color you want shows, a quick press will end the color cycle.
- Continue to hold the button past 2 flashes to turn off the blade.
- While the blade is off, the following controls are activated based on the flash of the LED button light:
- Press and hold the button for one flash, then release. This will change the volume. There are 3 volume settings: Volume High, Volume Low, and Mute.
- Press and hold the button for two flashes, then release. This will change the blade effect. There are 6 blade effects: Steady, Pulse, Rainbow Blade, Candy Blade, Unstable, and Fire Blade.
- Press and hold the button for three flashes, then release. This will change the blade mode. There are several blade modes, including Some pre-on effects. Blade effects will affect pre-ons, but will not have any effect on Blaster Blade and Ghost Blade modes. Only blade color and font selection impact these modes.
- Press and hold the button for four flashes, then release. This will change the sound font. The selection of fonts can be customized by the user.
Advanced Controls: Motion
There are several motion or manual controls available on the XenoPixel V2.
- A direct and quick stabbing motion with the hilt level will turn the blade on, or off.
- A quick twist while the hilt is pointed down will change the font to the next on the list. Either direction will prompt the change as long as the hilt is pointed downward.
- A quick twist while the hilt is pointed up will play a music track, if one or more are available in the selected fonts folder. A quick twist again will stop the music.
- Hold the button and impact the hilt/blade to activate lockup. Release the button to end lockup.
- While holding the button, a quick twist while the hilt is pointed down will change the selected blade color. Release the button to select the current color.
- While holding the button, a quick twist while the hilt is pointed up will play a special effect. This will also play a sound if the correct file in included in the font.
Updating Firmware
In order to update effects, fix potential issues, and make improvements, firmware updates may released as needed. To make this as easy as possible to update, we currently only require one file be added to effect the upgrade. Please follow the steps below to upgrade your XenoPixel V3 board:
- Remove the grip and pommel to access your XenoPixel chassis.
- Carefully remove the battery. This is most easily done by lightly tapping the end of the chassis against your hand. Remember the chassis is marked to ensure, on reinserting the battery, that the positive and negative ends line up correctly.
- Locate the micro SD card in the chassis. Be sure to note the orientation to make re-installation easier.
- Carefully remove the micro SD card. Use your fingers or tweezers. Do not force the card upward or downward, as this could damage the connector.
- Download the ‘update.bin’ file from your vendor/source. Open the file’s location on your PC or Mac.
- Open the micro SD card, and open the ‘set’ folder
- Drop the ‘update.bin’ in the ‘set’ folder
- Once the .bin file is in the ‘set’ folder, safely eject your micro SD card, and install it back into your chassis.
- Install the battery, but do not turn the hilt on; wait for sound confirmations, once the battery is installed, indicating that the update has begun, followed by one that indicates it has been completed. Please listen carefully as the sound may be difficult to make out. Normal updates should take only a few seconds – vendors will be made aware of larger updates as they become available.
Converting Sound Fonts
Converting sounds over to work with XenoPixel can take some patience, but is not a difficult process. At this time, conversion must be done manually. The font folder must be numbered sequentially; XenoPixel will not read folders with names. You won’t likely have to edit any sound files from existing popular soundfont formats, such as Proffie or CFX, but you will have to remove some files, and rename others.
You can safely add up to 16 of each type of sound to this folder. Windows 10 will automatically number renamed files of the same name, making converting multiple files of the same sound type much easier.
Xeno Configurator App
If you have an iPhone and Android, you can download the Xeno Configurator app. Ensure the saber is in Wake Mode, turn on the bluetooth of your device, and the saber should appear on your device list. This will only work with Xenopixel cores. You may need to remove the pommel if the base is very thick metal as this may block the bluetooth connection. This app will allow you to control unlimited saber colors, ignition/boot effects, saber blade effects, soundfonts and even let you install new soundfots with the app itself.
Charging
When the battery runs low, a voice will sound to inform you the battery is low. Insert the charging cable in the DC port. The hilt will have a "pulsing" light indicating that it is charging. Once it is fully charged, a voice will state "Ready" and the light will turn off.
Symptoms of low battery

If the style uses ColorChange<>, when you activate color change mode, there will be up to 12 steps per rotation with a little sound at each step.
If it does not use ColorChange<>, the color wheel will be activated, which has 32768 steps per rotation.
COLOR_CHANGE_DIRECT makes it so that IF the style uses ColorChange<>, when you activate color change mode, it will immediately go to the next color and exit color change mode. If the style does not use ColorChange<>, it has no effect.

Once it is fully charged, the light will either turn off or remain lit and steady to indicate a full charge.
Symptoms of low battery
If you haven't charged it recently, the saber may flash on clash with a red tinge; if you don't notice this or ignore it long enough, the saber will turn off automatically and no longer be powered on OR in wake mode until recharged.
